Szentes as a town is charming and relaxing; two hours from Budapest, it is a green and sunny haven of peace. The main attraction? A beautiful resort and a thermal spa park just a stone's throw away from the city centre!
The thermal park has a huge and well-equipped area.
It is surrounded by nature, rich in dense vegetation, with a park on one side and a river on the other. There are several pools to be enjoyed, with a total water surface of 4400m², from the 40°C medicinal thermal pool to the 50-metre swimming pool. Recent renovations have provided the park with a new indoor wellness area with thermal pools, a sauna area, a hammam steam room, and a new salt cave. Not only is the setting beautiful, but you can enjoy the quality of the thermal waters of Csongrád, which many tourists from neighbouring countries love so much that they take it home with them in large bottles!
A few dozen metres from its aquatic facilities, the Szentes thermal park offers a campsite as well as new and spacious bungalows of various sizes, which provide an idyllic and relaxing setting between the different pools and the Kurca river.
In the middle of the park you will also find a buffet area, an ice cream parlour and a sandwich shop, perfect for refreshments. Incidentally, the ThermalHungary team consider this to be one of the most comprehensive and pleasant spaces seen so far for this type and size of water park.
Planning to come outside of the summer high season? Don't worry, some of the outdoor pools, particularly the thermal baths, remain open all year round.
Szentes is one of several mid-sized Hungarian towns that have undergone numerous renovations over the past decade, and the thermal park itself was renovated in 2014. Given that this is a town of less than 30,000 people, the number of bars, restaurants and other leisure activities is a really pleasant surprise! Not only that, it is also close to Ópusztaszer National Heritage Park, a large open-air museum of Hungarian history, as well as Szeged.
The ThermalHungary team particularly recommends a stay in Szentes and a visit to its thermal park, as it was in fact here in these rich thermal waters that the concept of ThermalHungary was born in the mind of its creator.
